OVERVIEW
After a few sets behind the Mobius LS, we became convinced that we were enjoying one of those direct-drives that offers noteworthy performance for skiing and wakeboarding. Even for more serious skiers, this boat is capable of navigating you through the course — if that's your goal. For both sports, this model offers superior styling for buyers on a budget who need to please a crew with multiple water sports in mind. And with a new tilt helm assembly, cruise information center and ballast controls within easy reach, it's almost as much fun to drive as it is to ride or ski.
BEST FEATURES
Beefy Tower
With a tubing radius of 2.375 inches, this tower is one burly standard feature.
Interior Styling
The LS offers a choice of interior gelcoat colors, wrapping a richer, sportier feel throughout the lounge.
TEST ANALYSIS
Wakes
Somewhat bigger than what we were expecting from a small direct-drive, but the wakes were fairly soft as our skiers cut across them. For wakeboarding, we rate this as an especially fun wake for beginners with an ideal width that's not too intimidating. There's a good landing area for learning moves. Overall: Impressive crossover ability — a pleasant surprise, especially considering the low price.
Handling
Bow rise: 19 degrees during typical acceleration. Tracking: Easy to hold a straight path, with good overall responsiveness. Turns: Tighter than a V-drive, but a little sluggish with the standard 325 hp engine.
Acceleration
With standard 325 hp engine and OJ XMP 13x11.5 four-blade.
Vibration
Recorded with driver and passenger turning through a double-up at the sport-specific speed.
