We caught up with Thomas Degasperi to find out a little more about how his special edition Goode Skis slalom water ski came to be. Learn a little more about the world champ and his ride, then check out some awesome action shots below.
Can you tell us a little about your special edition Goode ski?
After the 2009 Worlds, my coach Bubu Alessi and I came up with an idea of creating the first real asymmetric ski. I liked the wide ride on my offside and the regular 9900SL on my onside, so I went up to the Goode Skis factory in Utah. With the help of Dave Goode, we cut two skis, glued them together and bingo – I loved it! So we cut a new mold, played with some flex numbers and finally produced the ski I wanted. I love the ski on my offside because I have the support of a wide ride, while my onside is quick on my turn. It’s a very fast ski.
