Four weeks after winning your third Masters slalom title, you skied 2¼- and 3@41 off at the Cedar Ridge Early Record tournament in Canton, Mississippi, and set two pending world slalom records. What are your keys for a great gate at 41?
Those are secrets! Maybe one day I will let them out, but for now I’ll keep them safely guarded.
How does it feel knowing that your PB is less than 2 buoys away from Jeff Rodgers‘ master men’s national slalom record (4½@41 off)?
Haha! I’ve known Jeff Rodgers since I was a little kid. In fact, I might as well go ahead and say thanks to him for getting me on a Goode slalom ski. I remember a tournament when I was really young, I was swimming in from my slalom run, and Jeff saw my ski sinking. He told me to just leave it in the water! It was obviously water logged and no good. He then convinced my parents convinced that I needed a Goode. I guess that paved the way.
Have you told Jeff that you’re coming after him?
Well, I guess now is a better time than any. Bring it!
