What are your main goals for the rest of the season?
My number one goal is to have a full season from start to finish, where I stay healthy and feel like I can finish the year stronger than I started. It seems like every year I put so much energy into one thing or another, have a great performance or two, and then end up getting hurt. That’s happened to me the majority of the time over the last seven or eight years. This year, I just want to learn from all those mistakes and have a really healthy and steady season. My second goal is to win the worlds in jump.
Are you going to be doing any clinics this year?
My number one passion is definitely skiing, but a close second is coaching — bringing up young kids, motivating people and traveling to clinics. Last year I spent a month coaching in Australia and New Zealand. I coached between 70 and 80 different kids, and that was one of the best times of my life.
The photo above was taken at your home site, in Palm Bay, Florida. Have you and Breanne been enjoying the area?
We love it. We first came here for the lakes. We drove down here and saw the lakes and fell in love with the place. Second, we figured out, Wow, we’re close to the beach, and I’m from a farm in the middle of nowhere in Canada. I didn’t know anything about the ocean, but over the last few years, I have spent a lot of time on the beach side. Just last year, I probably logged close to 30 days surfing.
