Coaches Corner – Level Two
I’m having trouble holding my position on my offside lean while slalmoming. It feels like the handle gets pulled really far away from my body as I cross the second wake. My back shoulder gets twisted around towards the boat too. How can I fix this?
The problems you are encountering on your offside pull are problems all of us have had to work through. The keys to eliminating these problems are as follows: 1. Improving the completion of your offside turn by dropping the reaching elbow. 2. Completing the turn by ‘dropping in’ with your legs while simultaneously closing the hips in relation to the boat. Once you set the turn, maintain the angle by staying tight through the second wake and holding the position you set out for the turn. This position helps make for a strong offside pull.
