Everyone is joining the wide-body slalom movement, even folks who until recently had little to do with the sport. Hobie, a longtime heavyweight in non-skiing water sports, is hooking up with Fort Worth, Texas-based water-ski maker Nash Manufacturing to produce another entry in the big-ski class. Called the Kahuna, this slalom is 11 inches wide and 68 inches long, with smooth-turning features like 45-degree bevel, tapered tail and dual high-impact fins. The massive surface area makes it perfect for bigger fellas or beginners, and for skiing behind low-horsepower boats or personal watercraft. Suggested retail price is $249.
