Let’s talk a little bit about tournament situations: Mentally, on the dock, what goes through your head?
When I’m on the dock before I ski, I just try and get my mind to chill out. I do that by maybe going for a light run. I also like to do a dynamic warm-up — core, hips, glutes, legs — to get my whole body moving. One of my ways of relaxing at a pro event is I like to talk to people to stay calm. Then, five minutes before I ski, I get real serious.
What do you focus on in between passes during an event?
I feel like I’ve done this for so long that when I’m on the ends, I’m thinking about a couple key points, but that’s about it. I’m just staying calm — just doing my thing.
