The American Barefoot Club has announced the 41st Barefoot Water Ski National Championships will be held July 26-29 at Lake Grew in Polk City, Fla. More than 50 barefooters in respective divisions are expected to compete for titles in wake slalom, tricks and jumping during the four-day event. Athletes competing in two or more events will be eligible for the prestigious overall titles.
The wake slalom event consists of athletes crossing the boat wake as many times as possible in two 15-second passes (one pass in the forward position and one pass in the backward position). Tricks competitors perform as many tricks as possible in two 15-second passes. Jumpers, who are each allowed three attempts, go for distance while leaping off an 18-inch ramp.

In other news, the International Waterski & Wakeboard Federation has announced that the 2020 Barefoot Water Ski World Championships will be held in April 2020 in Helles Park Liverpool, New South Wales, Australia. The 2018 Barefoot Worlds is scheduled to take place Aug. 12-18 in Napanee, Ontario, Canada.
