2014 Gekko GTR 22 Review

Ski Boat Review

Gekko is back, and so is the GTR 22 with some upgrades that modernize this classic direct-drive, bringing it up to today’s slalom standards. A former record-approved tournament towboat, the GTR 22 has plenty of pedigree as well as all the slalom standards, including small, sliceable wakes, integrated ski storage and a robust 330 hp Indmar engine. The boat is quick to plane, and its tracking performance is exceptional. While the GTR 22 is a slalom boat first, it offers versatility for multisport families. The open bow is comfortable and deep for a boat this size, giving you seating for up to eight, and when weighted right, the hull works well for recreational wakeboarding and wakesurfing. Then there’s the GTR 22’s unique design. It doesn’t look like every other boat on the water, and that’s something we can appreciate. Gekko integrates the swim platform into the GTR 22’s fiberglass, creating a sleek, flowing design. The available tower is custom-built to fit the deck with an easy, low-profile folding function.

The Gekko GTR 22 is the best ski boat for you if: You want a direct-drive with a tournament-approved pedigree and some worthy upgrades at an incredible price.
